This mural was commisioned in late 2008 by a lady who wished to cover a view of a wall in her conservatory. The mural consists of 9 seperately installed marine ply boards, seamlessly mounted with silicone adhesive for easy removal. Spray paints and acrylic were used to give a beautiful realism.

Filling stencils

This mural was commisioned in late 2008 by a lady who wished to cover a view of a wall in her conservatory. The client wanted a light autumn scene to beautify and warm the room.

Steady Progress

Once the preliminary designs were approved, Mel went to work creating the peice. It was decided to apply the artwork directly to marine ply boards, cut in advance to the exact shape of the windows. This allowed almost all of the work to be done in the studio.

Painting

The mural was created using a mixture of spray and brush painting techniques. High quality Montana Gold spray paints were used to create the lucid sky, and shading on the trees, and traditional painting techniques were used to create the detailed landscape, branches and leaves.

Distant trees were created using several stencils, achieving a distant dreamy background.

Construction

The mural was finally dusted and sealed with Montana Gold matt varnish to increase it's lifespan, and installed in place using mastic silicone, allowing the client to remove the mural easily without causing damage.

The window mural was installed on the 8th of February 2009.
